Sarah Pope, Director of Operations

  • Head of Operations

  • CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

  • CrossFit Mobility Trainer

  • USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach

  • Active Life Trainer

Sarah grew up playing Ice Hockey and Lacrosse as a kid.  Since she has been very active with traveling, hiking, and even climbed Mount Kilimanjaro this winter!

Sarah feels that it is important to guide athletes to acknowledge their strengths and build the idea of empowerment with-in.  She became a coach as a way to help others.  For her it is those special moments when the light bulb clicks for the athlete on a particular lift or gymnastics movements.  It is an awesome moment.

When Sarah is not at the gym coaching, she may be found underwater scuba diving!  Come say hi when Sarah is coaching!

Dan McCarthy, Owner

  • CrossFit Level 3 Trainer

  • CrossFit Gymnastics

  • CrossFit Mobility Trainer

  • USA Triathlon Coach

  • USA Weightlifting Advanced Sport Performance

  • Kettlebell Concept One Instructor

  • Concept 2 Indoor Rowing Instructor

  • Pose Running Technique Specialist

A former endurance athlete, Dan found CrossFit after getting bored of running and biking everyday.  Originally from Toronto, ON, Dan moved to New York City in 2004, and (after a moderately successful career as a jazz vibraphonist) began coaching CrossFit in 2010.  After learning how to incorporate CrossFit into endurance training, Dan was able to merge his two favorite physical activities and loves nothing more than sharing his passion with other athletes.  When he’s not talking about the dangers of modern-day running shoes, you can catch him going on and on about his other love, nutrition.  Seriously, don’t get him started!

Jes Conger

  • CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

  • USA Weightlifting (USAW) Sport’s Performance Coach

  • Freestyle Connection Movement Attendee

A former college soccer player, Jes moved to Brooklyn in 2009 to get her Master’s at Pratt Institute.  After dedicating the first 20 years or so of her life to athletics, the 5 or so years after college became more about becoming an architect, deciding who she was, and finding her place in the world.  While beginning to answer some of these questions she also put on about 15 lbs and was just disappointed in how she felt.  Luckily Jes found CrossFit through some friends – who never stopped talking about it.  Thanks to them she feels better than ever.  Jes got certified to be a coach in the Summer of 2011 and can’t get enough.  She love the ongoing challenge, the comradery, and the results.

When not at the gym, Jes love to cook, be outside, and play with her amazing dog Cash.

Britt Guillory

  • CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

  • USA Weightlifting Level 1

  • NASM - CPT

Britt was a late comer to the world of fitness, but as an adult she has fully embraced the pursuit of health and fitness. She has taken on the challenge of many different athletic goals, with accomplishments as diverse as running the NYC Marathon, medaling in Powerlifting at the American Open, and qualifying for the American Open Series in Weightlifting. She has coached and mentored athletes for over four years before joining us at Crow Hill, and enjoys seeing and helping folks learn to move better. She is also founder and chief promoter of Queens of Weightlifting, a platform for sharing stories of girls/Womxn and GNC weightlifters of color for the purpose of inspiring and making weightlifting accessible to all.

Omar Seleiman

  • CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

A little over 6 years ago, Omar was in a rut.  He was not happy with how he looked and felt.  Like so many others, he used to play sports in high school, but as an adult had become very sedentary and out of shape.  So Omar hired a personal trainer.  The work outs were like nothing he ever had done before in his life.  They challenged him and he made unbelievable gains in the his overall strength and the way he felt.  One day Omar asked his personal trainer about the work outs and was told that his personal trainer was certified thru CrossFit.  His personal trainer directed Omar to and Omar was immediately hooked.  He decided right there that he needed to teach others about this transformative program of constantly varied, functional movement at high intensity.

Previous to coming to Brooklyn Omar had taught at a CrossFit box in Florida for two years.  He enjoys helping people meet their goals and help push them harder than they ever knew possible.  His hope is that each one of the athletes he coach will have that same eye awakening moment that he did when he first started.

Shaina Rotter, Head Coach of Kids Program

  • CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

  • CrossFit Kids Instructor

  • USA Weightlifting (USAW) Sport’s Performance Coach

  • ACE Personal Trainer

Shaina has always been very physically active and started CrossFit in 2013.  Shaina was one of our first athletes and was hooked immediately.  She enjoyed the physical and mental challenges that pushed herself beyond her comfort zone to try new things.  She even has competed in several weightlifting competitions!

Shaina has led our successful CrossFit Kids program for almost two years now.  She likes to blend in games with physical challenges to keep the kids engaged and having fun.
