Growing up in Brooklyn, I played little league baseball until I was about 12 years old.  I was a decent player but after I stopped playing organized sports, I continued on to live a relatively sedentary lifestyle.  As I got older, naturally I began to gain weight.  When I finally gave up smoking at 29, I leaned heavily on sugar and sweets. Three years later I was 32 years old and 30 pounds overweight.  I felt terrible, my diet was bad and I became less and less active. As a last ditch effort to “get in shape” I stopped into a local CrossFit gym that had opened in my neighborhood.  The workout was 21-15-9 reps for time of KB Swings, Sit-ups, and Push-ups. After about 15 Sit-ups, I ran to the bathroom and literally tossed my cookies. (I had a mean late night cookie habit at the time). As I lay on the ground a few minutes later, Coach Dan kept the clock running. I thought to myself, “I don’t think this is for me.” I finished the workout, and stumbled home.

Later that day I felt invigorated.  I called Coach Dan and told him I was in!  In my first three months, I shed 30 pounds, and completely changed my outlook on my health, and athletic potential.  A little over two years, and many YouTube videos later, I am a CrossFit junkie.  I got my Level 1 certification, in June 2013, with hopes of helping other athletes achieve their potential, and to help me to be a better athlete and person.
