On June 30, 2018, the final day of PRIDE MONTH, gyms across the globe will be participating in #InfiltrateWithLove, a WOD celebrating inclusivity and support of the LGBTQ+ community and those marginalized because of how and who they love.
Why It Matters
On June 1, 2018 an Indianapolis CrossFit gym cancelled a PRIDE event citing "the directors and owners of [the gym] value health and wellness and they believe that this [pride] event does not."
On June 3, 2018 - CrossFit, Inc released a statement fully supporting the LGBTQ community stating "CrossFit is a diverse community in every way and that's what makes us strong. No matter who you are, how you're built, what you believe, or who or how you love--we are proud of you."
The OUT Foundation's mission is to ensure access to and inclusion - not just mere tolerance - within the fitness community and this includes the CrossFit affiliations of gyms. We are proud to stand in solidarity with CrossFit, Inc and their support of our community.
WOD with Us!
We will be gathering at 1pm on Saturday, June 30th to do this workout together. Fundraising can begin ASAP, and the goal for the gym will be $500. We also suggest that you make this workout fun! Fun costumes, outfits, anything you want to share your love and joy with the world! You can register for this event on Zen Planner.
Here is the workout we will be doing:
12 Minute AMRAP:
6 Squat Cleans (135/95)
28 Double Unders
6 Shoulder to Overhead (135/95)
Why this workout?
In the early hours of June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in Greenwich Village in New York City. The raid sparked a riot among bar patrons and neighborhood residents as police roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar, leading to six days of protests and violent clashes with law enforcement outside the bar on Christopher Street, in neighboring streets and in nearby Christopher Park. The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.
Special thanks to David Osario, owner of CrossFit South Brooklyn for creating this WOD for OUTWOD in 2013.
See you all there!
